  • Members are invited to a few Members-Only events each year. In past years, our members-only events have included a chat with Henry Winkler, a picnic, film screenings, and a hike through the Santa Monica mountains.

  • Members receive advance notice of special limited-seat events, such as opera and concerts.
  • Event news:
  • Members are automatically added to our events e-newsletter. This gives you the latest news on all of our upcoming events, including general interest and subgroup events, such as Yale in Hollywood, Young Alumni, and Better Bulldogs Community Service. Members also receive occasional postcard “snail mailings” with event listings.

  • Finally, a chance to return some long ago favors: Do you remember when you were applying to Yale, and some kind area alumni took the time to interview you and help you prepare to matriculate? Later, after graduating, you may have contacted other volunteer alumni for invaluable job information. Obviously, those resources were not “just there” –someone took the time to help. There are both current and prospective Yalies who could use your feedback; can you spend a few minutes each month to help? Even if you currently do not wish to volunteer directly, by joining YCSC, you are helping us maintain the organization that provides these services.

What do my membership dues go toward?
The Yale Club of Southern California does not receive any funds or financial support from Yale. All of our activities are entirely organized and funded locally.

Your dues help pay for:

  • Administrative costs, such as website administration, mailing postage, newsletter costs, etc.
  • Member Events – periodic free Member events are paid for with dues
  • Summer Fellow – the Club pays a stipend to the annual summer fellow

What is your policy regarding refunds for membership refunds?
Sorry, once membership dues are paid, they cannot be refunded

What is your policy regarding refunds if I wish to cancel an event I’ve pre-paid for?
Unless otherwise noted in the Event Payment Details, as a general rule, no refunds or cancellations are permitted. However, should you wish to have another member use your ticket in the event you cannot attend, you are welcome to coordinate a guest substitution on your own. Just let the event organizer know so he or she can update the event guest list accordingly.
