TIPS summer nights will continue this month at Crown Bar so get set for another laughing, smiling night. School may be out for summer, but all your fave, fun alums are still in session so pop by for a summer cocktail on the patio or kick-back under one of the chandeliered booths inside.
The LA Times swoons “Formerly the Tempest Bar, this latest offering from the same team behind the still-hot Winston’s (including actor Andy Fiscella, GQ editor Chris Huvane Charlie Lew and Matt Lavin) is sure to impress even the most jaded scenester….. The bar is, well, regal with several banquettes lining the walls (next to padded walls with textured wallpaper), strategically-placed chandeliers everywhere, white marble-topped wood tables, studded ottomans, distressed mirrors and a large, octagon-shaped bar at the center of the new destination.”
Advance RSVP Requested
Deadline: When we reach capacity. $12/ person through 7.09.09, $15 thereafter
• Once you register, your name will be added to the event guest list at the door. No physical ticket will be sent to you but PayPal will email you a receipt. Print the receipt or save it to your phone and bring it with you to the event as back-up in case there are any guest list/PayPal snafoos.
• If you buy tickets for guests, they should check-in as your +1s under your name at the door.
We don’t need their names.
• Limited admission may be available at the door on a first-come-first served basis depending on venue capacity.
THE FINE PRINT:
*You and your guests must be 21 to attend & plan to drink responsibly. Designate a driver & no drinking and driving. DUIs and disfigurement will not get you bikini-ready for summer. I mean, for starters, prison/hospital food are not known to be low-cal and bandages will really mess up your tan lines.
*No refunds or cancellations permitted

Third Annual Yale Dodger Day
When: Saturday July 18th | 7:10 pm
Where: Dodger Stadium
Join us as old blue cheers on true blue in our third annual trip to Dodger Stadium — this time vs. Houston.
Last year (see write-up and pix) we watched a thrilling win over Arizona as the Dodgers rode their trade of Manny Ramirez into the playoffs. Manny is back this year and the Dodgers are favored yet again to make a playoff run!
We’ll be watching the first series after the all star game as Dodgers begin the second half of their season and their playoff run. Seats will be located in the infield reserve.
Members may purchase up to two tickets at preferred price of $20 (a great savings over game pricing). Any additional tickets or nonmember tickets may be purchased at $30 per ticket.

About the Restaurant:
Frommer’s buzzes “Built as Charlie Chaplin’s private offices in 1928, this Tuscan-style building has a multilevel layout with flower-bedecked interior balconies, a bubbling fountain, and a skylight through which diners can see the campanile (bell tower). Consistently ranked as one of L.A.’s finest restaurants, a meal here might begin with fried zucchini flowers drizzled with melted mozzarella or lamb carpaccio surrounded by artichoke leaves — a dish that arrives looking like one of van Gogh’s sunflowers. Spago alumnus chef/owner Mark Peel heads up the kitchen and is particularly known for his grills and roasts….”

Annenberg Community Beach House at Santa Monica State Beach

When: Each Tuesday until September 29
Where: The Annenberg Community Beach House |415 Pacific Coast Hwy, Santa Monica, CA 90402
A listing from Naomi Okuyama YSD’07:
The Annenberg Community Beach House at Santa Monica State Beach is pleased to announce the “Beach=Culture” series of concerts, readings and lectures held each Tuesday from June 2 through September 29. The series will illuminate the rich history of the site and the Santa Monica Beach. All events are preceded by site tours from Santa Monica Conservancy docents.
The site of the new Beach House was once a hot spot on Santa Monica’s Gold Coast where Hollywood luminaries frolicked at fabulous parties thrown by actress Marion Davies and media mogul William Randolph Hearst. In 2005, Wallis Annenberg of the Annenberg Foundation committed to preserving the site for public use. The resulting Annenberg Community Beach House is open to all, no membership required.
Events are free and open to the public, but seating is limited and reservations are required. Reservations for June events may be made at www.eventbrite.com/org/199463539. For more information about the Beach House, visit http://beachhouse.smgov.net
